Carol Ross Barney Lifetime Achievement Award Film
Carol Ross Barney was selected by the AIA Chicago Board of Directors to receive the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award. Words cannot adequately describe her contributions to the Chicago public architectural scene.
A true vanguard of architectural achievement in the public realm, Chicago Tribune Magazine called her “The People’s Architect.” Her work continues to define and inspire contemporary architecture. From the Chicago Riverwalk to the CTA Belmont Blue Line Station and a host of other public works, Carol has changed the way that Chicagoans interact with their city.
As a profession that has traditionally been male dominant, Carol has given women a profound voice in the architecture industry through founding the non-profit organization Chicago Women in Architecture. Every year this organization helps women architects, engineers, designers and others become more visible in the field through networking and advocating. With Carol’s leadership, this organization is leading change in the architecture industry.
It was truly a privilege to have the opportunity to produce the Lifetime Achievement Award video for AIA Chicago’s Designight, highlighting Carol’s incredible achievement.
We extend a heartfelt congratulations to Carol on her Lifetime Achievement Award!
