Chicago, Illinois - February 25, 2020 - Black Spectacles Founder and CEO, Marc Teer, joins 116 members and five international architects being elevated to the College of Fellows of The American Institutes of Architects (AIA) for 2020.
The honor is awarded to members who have made significant contributions to the architecture profession. The fellowship program was developed to elevate those architects who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession and made a significant contribution to architecture and society on a national level. Prospective candidates must have at least 10 years of AIA membership and demonstrated influence in at least one of the following areas:
“Although I get the ‘FAIA’ after my name, it’s not just about me, it’s about us,” says Teer. “It’s about all of the people who have coordinated this effort to help people advance their careers. Everyone from our team in Chicago to those who’ve helped with the lectures, namely Mike Newman, to the folks who’ve written practice exam questions and flashcards and our entire curriculum committees, to the mentors, advisors and friends who’ve supported us along the way. It really is a collaborative network of people who are working together to help get one more architect licensed.”
Fellows are selected by a seven-member Jury of Fellows. This year’s jury included Chair Paul Mankins, FAIA, Chair Substancearchitecture; Mary A. Burke, FAIA, Burke Design & Architecture PLLC; Philip Castillo, FAIA, Jahn; Mary Johnston, FAIA, Johnston Architects, LLC; Nancy Rogo Trainer, FAIA, Drexel University; Steven Spurlock, FAIA, Quinn Evans Architects and Anna Wu, FAIA, University of North Carolina, Durham, North Carolina.
